Free bet tracker spreadsheet: a bet log in CSV and Excel

This is a free bet-log spreadsheet with one row per bet. The columns are date, market, price, stake, result, return, profit, closing price and closing line value. Enter an email to get it as a CSV file and as an Excel file. It records bets as they were placed and says nothing about whether any bet will win.

What is in it

date, sport, league, event, market, selection, price (American), stake, result (win, loss, push or void), return, profit, closing price, CLV and notes.

How to use it

  1. Add one row for each bet when you place it: date, sport, league, event, market, selection, price and stake.
  2. When the bet settles, enter the result as win, loss, push or void. In the Excel file, return and profit fill in by themselves. In the CSV file, enter them.
  3. To track closing line value, enter the closing price in American odds. CLV is the closing implied probability minus the bet's, in points.
  4. Delete the example row before you start, or overwrite it.

A $50 bet at -110 that wins returns 50 × 1.909 = $95.45, a profit of $45.45. The closing price was -120, so CLV is 54.55% − 52.38% = +2.16 points. The row is an example of the format, not a record of a real bet.

A log records what happened. It does not change the odds of any bet, and this page makes no claim that tracking leads to a profit. Bet only what you can afford to lose.

Questions

What is the CLV column?

CLV is closing line value: the implied probability of the closing price minus that of the price you took, in percentage points. A positive number means the price taken was better than the close. It compares prices and does not say whether a bet won. The closing line value calculator shows the working.

Do return, profit and CLV calculate by themselves?

The Excel file does: return, profit and CLV fill in from price, stake, result and closing price, for as many as 1,000 rows. The CSV file is plain text, so those three columns are left for you to fill in or to add formulas to in your own spreadsheet app.

Where is the data in the spreadsheet kept?

The file is on your device and anything you type into it stays there. Nothing you enter in the spreadsheet is sent to us. The only thing we receive is the email address you enter on this page.
