Taking money out periodically

Withdrawing on a schedule turns a balance into money and prevents an account figure from becoming a score to be maximised.

A number that only ever moves up and down inside an account behaves like points in a game. Money that has left the account and arrived somewhere else behaves like a result.

What never withdrawing does A bettor up four thousand across a year, with all of it still in the account, has had a good year and holds nothing. The next bad run is funded entirely by the good one, and the year's work is invisible.

It also caps exposure automatically. Money that is not in the account cannot be staked on a bad evening, which is a mechanical control rather than a willpower one.

What follows from that is less comfortable. Every part of the interface encourages the balance to stay where it is, and no operator has ever sent a reminder to withdraw.

What to do with it. Set a withdrawal schedule — monthly, or at a defined balance threshold — and follow it regardless of how the following week looks.
