Logging parlays, voids and bonus bets in one betting spreadsheet

Log every ticket as one row with a return column, and compute profit as return minus stake. A void or push returns the stake, a dead heat returns a fraction of the stake at full odds, a bonus bet has a cash stake of zero, and a parlay is one row with the combined decimal price. A round robin gets one row per parlay.

The sheet on the bet tracker page is built around that structure.

Add a return column

The simple log in the columns and formulas article works out profit directly from the result. Once a log contains unusual bets, it is easier to compute what each ticket paid and take profit as return − stake. Result codes: W win, L loss, P push, V void, D dead heat.

Return formula (stake in G, decimal price in J, dead-heat fraction in Q) =IF(H2="W", G2*J2, IF(H2="D", G2*Q2*J2, IF(OR(H2="P", H2="V"), G2, 0))) Profit: = return − G2

Parlays

One row per ticket. The price is the product of the legs' decimal prices, so three legs at -110 give 1.909 × 1.909 × 1.909 = 6.958, and a 10 stake that wins returns 69.58 for a profit of 59.58. Keep the legs in a second sheet or in extra columns so the ticket can be rebuilt. A voided or pushed leg counts as 1.00 in the product, and the ticket pays on the rest. If the operator pays a different multiple than the product, record the multiple paid.

Round robins

A round robin is several parlays, so give each parlay its own row, or add one row per ticket with the total staked and the total returned. Rows per parlay let you see which combinations paid. A single row is faster. Either way the total stake is the number of parlays times the stake on each, a count covered in the round robin counting article.

Voids and pushes

Both return the stake and give a profit of zero. Keep them as rows, because deleting them hides how often they happen. Decide whether pushes count as staked in ROI and stay consistent, as set out in the ROI article. Voids are normally left out of the staked total.

Dead heats

Add a column for the fraction paid, such as 0.5 for a two-way tie for a single place. A 20 stake at +1000 (decimal 11.00) with a fraction of 0.5 returns 20 × 0.5 × 11 = 110, a profit of 90. The fraction comes from the rule in the dead-heat article. Without the column a dead heat gets entered as a win or a push, and both are wrong.

Bonus bets

A bonus bet that does not return its stake has a cash stake of zero. Record the bonus amount in its own column, and use a flag so the row stays out of the cash totals. A win pays bonus × (decimal price − 1), a loss pays 0. A 50 bonus at +200 that wins gives 100; one that loses gives 0, not -50, because nothing of yours was staked. Bonus profit and cash profit should be summed separately, since mixing them puts a zero-stake row into the ROI denominator and distorts it. The value of the bonus itself is in the bonus bet article.

Hedges

If you hedge a bet, log the hedge as its own row with a note that links it to the original. The combined result then comes from summing the two rows, and each bet remains a clean record of its own price and stake.

Checks worth running

  • Every row has a result code, and open bets are marked as open and excluded from totals.
  • The number of rows by result matches the record you quote.
  • Total profit equals total return minus total staked on the same set of rows.
Entries decide the record A sheet only adds up what was typed into it. A dead heat marked as a win, or a bonus stake counted as cash, produces figures that look exact and are wrong. Check unusual rows against the terms of the bet when you settle them.

Use the template. The bet tracker page has the sheet with the result codes and the return formula already in place.
