Betting live against a delayed feed
Your screen is seconds behind the event. The price you are looking at already reflects what you are reacting to, because the operator's data arrives before the broadcast does.
Streams carry encoding and distribution delay measured in seconds; data feeds do not. The gap is structural and cannot be closed from the viewer's side, whatever the connection speed.
Live betting is not unbeatable. Somebody at the ground, or with a faster feed, or with a better read on a specific in-game situation, has a real case — but the case has to survive the delay, not ignore it.
The problem arrives next. Reacting to something you just watched is the single most natural in-play instinct and the one most reliably exploited by the delay.
What to do with it. Treat any live bet placed in reaction to a play you just saw as a bet you are late on, and require a much larger perceived edge before taking it.
