What the break-even rate is

The break-even rate — The strike rate a given price needs to make nothing. At −110 it is 52.38 per cent.

It is one divided by the decimal return. A price that returns 1.909 per unit needs to win 1/1.909 of the time simply to give the margin back.

Fifty-two per cent losing Fifty-two winners in a hundred at −110, staking 100 each: 5,236 returned on winners against 10,000 staked overall, with 4,800 lost. Down sixty-four on a record that sounds like winning.

It falls as the price improves: 51.2 per cent at −105, 54.5 at −120. Improving prices lowers the target without changing anything about selections.

And that is the trap. Almost every advertised record sits within a point or two of a threshold the advertiser never prints.

What to do with it. Calculate it for the prices you actually take and compare your record to that, not to fifty per cent.

11,262 games in US sports that are over and carried a price when we wrote them up, between November 24, 2025 and November 6, 2026. Each count sits beside what it is out of, and the share is the one divided by the other.

How they ended

Over 16,021 finished games in US sports whose result line says how it ended — the feed's own one-line verdict, not a reading of the play.

286 games landed exactly on the number — the handicap or the total — so they are in the counts they are out of and in neither result.

The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.

A season that happened. Nothing here predicts the next game, and none of it is advice.
