How do I know the pick was not changed after the game?

Every pick is published with a hash before kick-off, and the string that hash was made from is released when the day settles. Recompute it yourself and compare it with the hash published before the whistle. The recipe and a worked example are on the verification page.

What happens if the NBA pick loses?

Your balance does not move. A day comes off it only when that day's main pick wins, so a losing day, a voided day and an empty day all leave every day you paid for intact.
