Why live markets suspend

Any event that might change the price freezes betting until it has been repriced. A review, an injury stoppage or a scoring play all trigger it.

Live prices are recalculated continuously from a data feed. When something happens that the model has not yet processed, accepting bets would be accepting bets at a stale price.

What a suspension means Betting is refused for a few seconds while the market catches up. The system is working exactly as intended, and the refusal is the protection rather than the failure.

Suspension durations vary by sport and by how much the event changes the price — a soccer VAR review can freeze a market for minutes.

The problem arrives next. A bet attempted during suspension feels like a technical fault, which invites repeated attempts at exactly the moment the price is about to move.

What to do with it. Treat a suspension as information that something material just happened, and wait for the new price rather than chasing the old one.
