Asian handicaps: whole, half and quarter lines

An Asian handicap applies a goal or point head start and removes the draw from the settlement. Half lines (0.5, 1.5) have no push and settle win or lose. Whole lines (0, 1, 2) push and refund when the adjusted result is level. Quarter lines (0.25, 0.75) split the stake across the two adjacent lines and can settle as a half win or a half loss.

The design exists so that a two-team market can be offered in a sport with three outcomes, and so the handicap can be tuned in quarter-goal steps rather than in the coarse jumps a single goal would otherwise force. The push on whole lines is what does the work: it removes the draw by refunding it rather than by pricing it.

Three settlements from one result A side at −0.75 for 100 at 2.55 is 50 on −0.5 and 50 on −1. They win 2-1. The −0.5 half wins: 50 × 2.55 = 127.50. The −1 half pushes: 50 returned. Total back 177.50, profit 77.50 — exactly half the 155.00 a clean win would have paid. On −0.5 alone that result wins in full; on −1.5 alone it loses in full.

A level-ball handicap, written 0 or 'pk', is the same bet as draw no bet under a different name. The two frequently appear on the same page at different prices, and nothing in either label tells the reader they are identical.

Which is where it goes wrong. The whole-line and half-line notations look interchangeable and are not. A one-goal win refunds on −1 and loses on −1.5, and readers arriving from American markets, where whole-number handicaps are uncommon, tend to read every handicap as a half line.

What to do with it. Write out the three settlements — win, push, lose — for the exact line in front of you before placing the bet.

What the published price did in US sports

11,262 games in US sports that are over and carried a price when we wrote them up, between November 24, 2025 and November 6, 2026. Each count sits beside what it is out of, and the share is the one divided by the other.

How they ended

Over 16,021 finished games in US sports whose result line says how it ended — the feed's own one-line verdict, not a reading of the play.

286 games landed exactly on the number — the handicap or the total — so they are in the counts they are out of and in neither result.

The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.

A season that happened. Nothing here predicts the next game, and none of it is advice.
