Remote, non-remote, and the third one nobody explains
Three values, and the split is not what most people assume: 2,389 records are Non-Remote, 1,570 are Remote, and 545 are Ancillary Remote. Remote means gambling by internet, telephone or television. Non-remote means in a building.
The distinction is regulatory rather than technical: the two carry different conditions, different fee scales and different social-responsibility requirements, because the risks of a person alone with a phone at three in the morning are not the risks of a person in a shop with staff in it.
Non-remote being the majority is an artefact of what Great Britain licenses: arcades, bingo halls, casinos and betting shops each need one, and there are a great many small ones.
And that is the trap. People check for 'a licence' and find a non-remote one. A company licensed only for premises is not licensed to take your bet online, and both rows say the company is licensed.
What to do with it. When the question is about a website, the row that answers it says Remote or Ancillary Remote. A Non-Remote row is about a building.
