Getting the kick-off time wrong
A card built in one time zone and played in another produces bets placed after games have started, at prices that are no longer the pre-game ones.
Selections are published in the publisher's local time and read in the reader's. Nothing in either interface converts it, and 'tonight' means two different things eight time zones apart.
It is entirely avoidable and has nothing to do with judgement. It is a units error, in the same category as mixing up decimal and American odds.
The problem arrives next. The mistake usually surfaces only when the bet loses, at which point it is indistinguishable from a bad pick and gets recorded as one.
What to do with it. Convert every kick-off to your own zone at the moment you read it, and check the clock before placing rather than after.
