Maximum payout limits

A cap on winnings per bet, per day or per event, applied regardless of the odds that were accepted.

Operators limit their exposure to any single outcome, and the cleanest way is a hard ceiling written into the terms rather than a refusal at bet time.

Where it bites A long parlay can be accepted at a price whose full payout exceeds what the terms will actually pay. The stake is taken at the advertised odds and the return is capped by a clause elsewhere in the same document.

Limits are usually generous relative to typical stakes, and are most relevant to long-odds multiples and futures.

Here is the catch. The odds are displayed prominently at the point of betting and the cap is not displayed at all, so the two halves of the contract are presented very differently.

What to do with it. Check the maximum payout before taking any bet whose potential return is large, particularly multiples.
