A line that moved and the moneyline in the NBA

This is simpler than it is usually made to sound. A number that moves has been argued with by people risking money. It is the only public signal in betting that costs something to send.

The moneyline is a bet on who wins, and nothing else, and in the NBA it behaves like this: Almost never the interesting side of an NBA opinion. The spread carries the information; the moneyline just restates it at a worse price.

Where the two meet Movement without news is the interesting kind. Movement after an injury report is just everybody reading the same page at the same time.

The league's own contribution: Fouls stop the clock at the end, so a trailing team manufactures possessions. Late fouling routinely adds six to ten points to a total after the game is decided.

The problem arrives next. Chasing a moved line means paying the price the movement created. By the time it is visible, the thing that caused it is priced. And on this market in particular: Heavy favourites pay back barely more than the stake, so a run of correct picks can still lose money. The price is the bet.

What the published price did in the NBA

1,261 games in the NBA that are over and carried a price when we wrote them up, between November 25, 2025 and November 6, 2026. Each count sits beside what it is out of, and the share is the one divided by the other.

How they ended

Over 1,587 finished games in the NBA whose result line says how it ended — the feed's own one-line verdict, not a reading of the play.

WhatHow oftenOut ofShare
Went past regulation771,5874.9%

4 games landed exactly on the number — the handicap or the total — so they are in the counts they are out of and in neither result.

The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.

A season that happened. Nothing here predicts the next game, and none of it is advice.

Counted November 6, 2026.
