Rest and fatigue and the total in the NBA
One fact does most of the work here. The schedule is published a year in advance, so fatigue is an input, not an edge. It was in the number before the number was posted.
The total is a bet on how much both teams score together, and in the NBA it behaves like this: Pace decides more than quality. Two slow teams go under a high total with everyone healthy, and late fouling adds points after the game is over.
The league's own contribution: Fouls stop the clock at the end, so a trailing team manufactures possessions. Late fouling routinely adds six to ten points to a total after the game is decided.
Here is the catch. The obvious tired-team under is the one that keeps losing, because you are paying for a discount that was already applied. And on this market in particular: Everybody's instinct is the under, because a low-scoring game feels more predictable than a high-scoring one. The market knows this, and prices it.

What the published price did in the NBA
1,261 games in the NBA that are over and carried a price when we wrote them up, between November 25, 2025 and November 6, 2026. Each count sits beside what it is out of, and the share is the one divided by the other.

How they ended
Over 1,587 finished games in the NBA whose result line says how it ended — the feed's own one-line verdict, not a reading of the play.
| What | How often | Out of | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Went past regulation | 77 | 1,587 | 4.9% |
4 games landed exactly on the number — the handicap or the total — so they are in the counts they are out of and in neither result.
The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.
A season that happened. Nothing here predicts the next game, and none of it is advice.
Counted November 6, 2026.
One situation, counted
What the side playing a second night in a row did
341 finished games in the NBA in which exactly one of the two teams had played the day before and the other had not, between October 7, 2025 and November 6, 2026. A game where both sides were on a back-to-back has no tired side to ask about and is not in here.
| What | How often | Out of | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| That side won | 157 | 341 | 46.0% |
| That side covered the handicap | 140 | 267 | 52.4% |
A back-to-back here means the side's previous fixture started less than 36 hours earlier, taken from our own schedule — so a Saturday afternoon followed by a Sunday night counts and a clear day off does not.
