How the moneyline works in baseball

This is simpler than it is usually made to sound. The most popular market in baseball precisely because the run line is fixed. Every opinion about a baseball game has to be expressed here or in the total.

The moneyline is a bet on who wins, and nothing else. No handicap at all, so the whole difference between two teams sits in the price. A win by the narrowest margin and a rout settle identically.

What baseball does to it Runs arrive in ones, so the handicap is fixed at 1.5 and never moves. Every difference between two teams has to live inside the price.

The problem arrives next. Heavy favourites pay back barely more than the stake, so a run of correct picks can still lose money. The price is the bet.

The competition-specific part: One person decides more of a baseball game than anybody decides anything in team sport: the starting pitcher. An ace scratched for a bullpen game is worth a full run on the total.

None of this says which side to take. It says what the number in front of you is made of — and a number you cannot take apart is one you are trusting rather than reading.

What the published price did in MLB

2,496 games in MLB that are over and carried a price when we wrote them up, between March 26, 2026 and October 29, 2026. Each count sits beside what it is out of, and the share is the one divided by the other.

How they ended

Over 3,339 finished games in MLB whose result line says how it ended — the feed's own one-line verdict, not a reading of the play.

137 games landed exactly on the number — the handicap or the total — so they are in the counts they are out of and in neither result.

The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.

A season that happened. Nothing here predicts the next game, and none of it is advice.
