How the moneyline works in college football

Here is the part that decides it. Where the blowouts live, favourites are priced at −2000 and beyond. Risking twenty to win one is a bet on nothing going wrong for sixty minutes.

The moneyline is a bet on who wins, and nothing else. No handicap at all, so the whole difference between two teams sits in the price. A win by the narrowest margin and a rout settle identically.

What college football does to it The talent gap between a playoff programme and a team fulfilling a scheduling contract is wider than professional sport permits, so spreads reach 40 and beyond — numbers the NFL has never posted.

Which is where it goes wrong. Heavy favourites pay back barely more than the stake, so a run of correct picks can still lose money. The price is the bet.

The competition-specific part: Depth varies enormously. At the top a backup quarterback is a future first-round pick; at the bottom he is a walk-on, and the same injury is worth three points at one programme and twenty at another.

None of this says which side to take. It says what the number in front of you is made of — and a number you cannot take apart is one you are trusting rather than reading.

How they ended

Over 1,299 finished games in College Football whose result line says how it ended — the feed's own one-line verdict, not a reading of the play.

5 games landed exactly on the number — the handicap or the total — so they are in the counts they are out of and in neither result.

The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.

A season that happened. Nothing here predicts the next game, and none of it is advice.
