A late scratch in basketball
A player who does not take the court voids the prop and the stake is returned; at most operators a single second of court time makes it stand.
A market on a player who never appears has no way to settle, so the void condition exists. Where operators differ is the line between not playing and playing, and the common standard is any court time at all.
A player ruled out before tip-off is the clean case nobody argues about. The messy case is the one above, and it is decided by a rule the slip never showed you.
And that is the trap. The protection reads as 'if he does not play I get my money back', and what it says is 'if he does not play at all'. Those are different sentences on a night when somebody lasts one possession.
What to do with it. Find your operator's minimum-participation wording before betting a prop on a questionable player. It is one line in the basketball rules.
