How to connect the BetsBeats MCP server to ChatGPT
ChatGPT connects to remote MCP servers through Developer mode. Turn it on under Settings, Connectors, Advanced, create a connector named BetsBeats with the URL https://api.betsbeats.com/mcp and No authentication, then pick it in a chat. Availability depends on your plan and, in a workspace, your admin. OpenAI changes these menus often, so treat the labels as approximate.
Checked against each client's documentation on 1 November 2026. Menus move between releases, so the endpoint URL is the one part that does not change.
Steps
- Open ChatGPT Settings, go to Connectors, then Advanced, and turn on Developer mode. On some plans the switch sits elsewhere or needs a workspace admin to allow it.
- Create a new connector from the Connectors screen.
- Enter the name BetsBeats and the MCP server URL https://api.betsbeats.com/mcp, and choose No authentication.
- Start a new chat, add the BetsBeats connector from the tools menu and run the test prompt below.
Config
Name: BetsBeats
MCP server URL: https://api.betsbeats.com/mcp
Authentication: No authenticationOpenAI's own help page for this did not load when we checked, so these steps follow the setup guides we could read and the server README. If your menu differs, follow OpenAI's current Developer mode instructions. The URL and No authentication are the only values we supply.
Test it
Ask your assistant to use a tool whose answer you can check by hand.
Use the BetsBeats MCP server to convert odds of +150 to decimal and implied probability.A working connection returns decimal odds of 2.5 and an implied probability of 0.4, which is 40 percent, from the convert_odds tool.
Questions
Why Developer mode?
A custom MCP server that is not in a built-in directory is added through Developer mode, so that is where the BetsBeats URL goes.
Is it safe to leave on?
Developer mode can enable tools that write data, so check each tool before you confirm it. The BetsBeats tools are read-only: they fetch public records and calculate.
