How to connect the BetsBeats MCP server to VS Code and Copilot
In VS Code create .vscode/mcp.json with a servers object, add betsbeats with type http and the url https://api.betsbeats.com/mcp, then use it from Copilot Chat in agent mode. You can also run the MCP: Add Server command or code --add-mcp. VS Code uses servers, not mcpServers, as its top-level key.
Checked against each client's documentation on 1 November 2026. Menus move between releases, so the endpoint URL is the one part that does not change.
Steps
- Create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace, or run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette and choose HTTP.
- Add the entry shown below, or run the code --add-mcp command to add it to your user profile.
- Start the server (the MCP: List Servers command lists it) and trust it when VS Code asks.
- Open Copilot Chat in agent mode, check that the BetsBeats tools appear under Configure Tools, and run the test prompt below.

}code --add-mcp '{"name":"betsbeats","type":"http","url":"https://api.betsbeats.com/mcp"}'VS Code's documentation shows this shape for a remote HTTP server, and describes code --add-mcp as adding the server to your user profile rather than the workspace. VS Code asks you to trust a server before it starts.
Test it
Ask your assistant to use a tool whose answer you can check by hand.
Use the BetsBeats MCP server to convert odds of +150 to decimal and implied probability.A working connection returns decimal odds of 2.5 and an implied probability of 0.4, which is 40 percent, from the convert_odds tool.
Questions
mcpServers or servers?
VS Code's own format uses servers at the top level. Other editors use mcpServers, and pasting that block into VS Code will not register the server.
Workspace file or user profile?
A workspace file in .vscode/mcp.json travels with the repository. code --add-mcp adds the server to your user profile so it is available in every workspace.
