How to connect the BetsBeats MCP server to Claude Code

Run claude mcp add --transport http betsbeats https://api.betsbeats.com/mcp in a terminal. That stores the server for the current project. Add --scope user to make it available in every project. Check it with claude mcp list, or /mcp inside Claude Code. No authentication is needed.

Checked against each client's documentation on 1 November 2026. Menus move between releases, so the endpoint URL is the one part that does not change.

Steps

  1. Open a terminal in your project, or anywhere if you use user scope.
  2. Run the add command shown below.
  3. Run claude mcp list in the shell, or /mcp inside Claude Code, to confirm betsbeats is connected.
  4. Ask a question that needs a tool, such as the test prompt below.

Config

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http betsbeats https://api.betsbeats.com/mcp
Terminal, all your projects
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user betsbeats https://api.betsbeats.com/mcp
.mcp.json in the project root, shared with the team
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "betsbeats": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.betsbeats.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Scopes are local (the default: this project only, private to you), project (written to .mcp.json so the team shares it) and user (all your projects). In .mcp.json an HTTP entry needs "type": "http". An entry with a url and no type is read as a stdio server and fails.

Test it

Ask your assistant to use a tool whose answer you can check by hand.

Use the BetsBeats MCP server to convert odds of +150 to decimal and implied probability.

A working connection returns decimal odds of 2.5 and an implied probability of 0.4, which is 40 percent, from the convert_odds tool.

Questions

Which scope should I use?

Local to try it out, user if you want it everywhere, project if the whole team should get it through version control. Claude Code asks for approval before using a project-scoped server from .mcp.json.

Does it need a token or header?

No. The endpoint is public, so there is no --header flag to add.
