What closing line value is

Closing line value — CLV — is a comparison between two prices: the one you actually got, and the one the same market closed at. If you took a side at 2.25 and it closed at 2.05, you got a better price than the market's last. That is the whole of what CLV says.

What it is not CLV is a statement about a price. It is not a statement about a result and not a statement about money. It does not predict profit, and it is not proof that a bet was a good one. A bet taken well above the closing price can lose. A bet taken well below it can win. The game is still the game, and nothing you wrote down beforehand takes the chance out of it.

How you would check it yourself

  1. Write down the price you got, the exact side and line, which bookmaker, and when.
  2. Go back after the market closes and read that same bookmaker's final price for that same side and that same line.
  3. Compare like with like. A different line is a different bet. A different bookmaker is a different market. Either substitution makes the comparison meaningless without saying so.

Why we publish the price and the time

Every pick in the results archive carries the price it went out at and the moment it went out, and neither is edited afterwards — including on the days it lost. That is there so you can run the comparison above yourself rather than take our word for anything. We do not publish a closing line value figure of our own, and if we ever do, it will be described as what it is: a record of prices, not a claim about what anybody made.

What the published price did in US sports

11,262 games in US sports that are over and carried a price when we wrote them up, between November 24, 2025 and November 6, 2026. Each count sits beside what it is out of, and the share is the one divided by the other.

How they ended

Over 16,021 finished games in US sports whose result line says how it ended — the feed's own one-line verdict, not a reading of the play.

286 games landed exactly on the number — the handicap or the total — so they are in the counts they are out of and in neither result.

The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.

A season that happened. Nothing here predicts the next game, and none of it is advice.
