College basketball is halves, not quarters
Two twenty-minute halves rather than four quarters, so a first-half bet covers half the game rather than a quarter of it.
The two competitions divide the game differently, and the market labels follow the sport's own structure rather than a common standard.
Scoring is not evenly split between halves in either sport, so neither number is exactly half the full-game total.
The problem arrives next. Carrying a professional habit across produces a bet twice the size of the one intended, and the labels give no warning.
What to do with it. Check how the sport divides its game before betting any segment market.

How they ended
Over 6,487 finished games in College Basketball whose result line says how it ended — the feed's own one-line verdict, not a reading of the play.
| What | How often | Out of | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Went past regulation | 329 | 6,487 | 5.1% |
4 games landed exactly on the number — the handicap or the total — so they are in the counts they are out of and in neither result.
The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.
A season that happened. Nothing here predicts the next game, and none of it is advice.
