Load management is the only genuinely unpriced input
A healthy star ruled out for rest, decided on the morning of the game and sometimes announced an hour before tip.
The schedule was published a year ago, so every fatigue-related factor was in the number long before you saw it. The decision about who actually sits was made today, which is the only part that is new information.
It is partially predictable. Certain coaches, certain schedule spots and certain injury histories make rest far more likely, and that pattern is available to anybody watching closely.
And that is the trap. Reacting to the announcement is reacting after the price has moved. The value is in anticipating a coach's decision, which is a question about a person rather than about basketball.
What to do with it. Track which coaches rest players in which spots, and treat the announcement itself as the end of the opportunity rather than the start.

The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.
