Rotations decide props more than ability does
Minutes are assigned by a coach, not earned by talent on the night. A rotation change is worth more to a prop than a shooting slump is.
A prop is a rate multiplied by minutes, and minutes are the volatile term. A player moved to the bench unit loses both minutes and usage at once, which compounds.
Injury reports cover availability and say nothing about minutes. A player who is 'available' after missing time frequently returns on a restriction that nothing announces.
Here is the catch. The prop market prices expected usage in a normal rotation, and the rotation is the thing least likely to be normal after any absence.
What to do with it. Check recent minutes and lineup combinations before any prop, and treat a return from injury as a minutes question rather than an availability one.
