Three time zones and an early tip
A west-coast team playing an early eastern game starts at what its players' body clocks read as late morning. It is the most-cited schedule spot in basketball.
Circadian effects on reaction time and shooting are measurable, and the direction is consistent. The schedule that produces them is published a year in advance.
The unpriced residue is who actually plays. A team on a long eastern trip is a team more likely to rest somebody, and that decision is made on the day.
Here is the catch. Being the most-cited situational angle in the sport is exactly what guarantees it is fully in the price before any broadcast mentions it.
What to do with it. Use travel to predict rest decisions rather than to predict performance.

The prices counted here are DraftKings', as they stood when we last wrote each game up — one snapshot per game, near kick-off for almost all of them, and never a closing line. So this says what the published line did, not how it moved on the way there.
